Area covered: U.K.

Hobbies: Football, golf, tennis, squash, walking my dog, socialising with friends, spending quality time with my wife and 3 kids (Jamie, Kerri and Ross) and embarking on self-build housing projects.

Best Part of Job: Taking on new clients with major pest control challenges and completely eradicating the problem. Recent examples are hotels and hospitals who tell you, "we've had this cockroach problem for 30+ years - you'll never get rid of them!"After telling them, "we love a challenge!", within a couple of months 30 years of cockroaches have been 100% eradicated.

We firmly believe with hard work and correct pesticides allied to our technical expertise, any pest issue can be controlled.

Worst Part of Job: Form filling and going through the mountains of paperwork required to ensure the business continues to trade legally and minimizes the risk to customers and employees.

Funny Story: The last 4 times I have been stung by wasps, I have taken severe allergic reactions and ended up in hospital with anaphylactic shock! When the doctors ask what I do for a living and I reply, "pest control" they all tell me to start looking for alternative employment!

Any Other Interesting Facts: I spent 5 years in the Royal Navy, which included 9 months down the Gulf, 6 months down the Adriatic Sea during the Yugoslavia/Bosnia conflict and 6 months in Hong Kong in preparation for the handover to China.

After leaving the Royal Navy, I juggled pest control with playing professional football with East Fife, Arbroath, Brechin City and Montrose, and am currently the manager of my local team Blairgowrie JFC.

Area covered: Scotland

Hobbies: Spending time with my wife and three boys.

Football - supporting Aberdeen, Manchester United and Scotland.

Golf - playing lots and increasing now my boys enjoy it!

Best Part of Job: Signing up new customers when the enquiry has come from existing customers. My father always drummed into us, 'good service breeds good sales'!

Worst Part of Job:Not so much now but in the beginning, building the company up it was not unusual to be travelling 200 - 300 miles a day, 7 days a week.

Funny Story: An enquiry call on a Friday night to remove a bird 'tweeting' in the attic. He was a bit embarrased when I told him he was just needing new batteries in his smoke alarm.

Any Other Interesting Facts: I spent 4 years in the Black Watch while doing an 18 month tour of Hong Kong (difficult times). Knowing what I know now it was unbelievable, that some nights we had to move out of our accommodation blocks because of the amount of cockroaches and rats in our rooms.

Area covered: Scotland

Hobbies: Hill walking, caravaning, watching football

Best Part of Job: Meeting so many interesting and amusing people.

Worst Part of Job: None. Every day is different with new challenges. Probably the best job in the world.

Funny Story: It wasn't funny at the time, but one of my first tasks as service manager of a national pest control company was to call at a rather disgruntled farmer's wife who had suffered accidental poisonings of several non-target species to a new type of rat poison that had been put down by an inexperienced technician.

"You've killed my dog, my cat, 4 hens and a cockerel." Technician boldly says, "I've just got the farmer to get and I've got the lot." The technician didn't last long after that!

Any Other Interesting Facts: Cockroaches have remained virtually unchanged for over 200 million years. Fossils have been found and scientists reckon that if there was a nuclear war cockroaches would be one of the few species that would survive.

Funny Story: We had guests in one evening and our cat Chloe, decided to bring a mouse into the sitting room and play chase with it! Jimmy placed a humane trap at the fireplace and the wee mouse went straight into it and was set free again much to Chloe's annoyance!

Any Other Interesting Facts: Jimmy and i have beed married 43 years and 41 of these have been spent in the pest control industry - so you could say that we have served a decent apprenticeship!
